ADCOLOR Receives Emmy® Nomination for ADCOLOR At The Apollo Featuring Wyclef Jean

    By July 2, 2021 | News

NEW YORK, July 2, 2021 — ADCOLOR, the premier organization dedicated to celebrating and promoting professionals of color and diversity in the creative industries, is proud to announce its Emmy® nomination for ADCOLOR At The Apollo Featuring Wyclef Jean. The organization received its nomination during the 64th Annual New York Emmy® Nomination Announcement on Wednesday, June 30th for the Entertainment – Long Form Content category.

The nomination recognizes ADCOLOR’s 2020 After Dark event, which was a virtual concert by Grammy Award-winning artist Wyclef Jean at the Apollo Theater. The event closed out its ADCOLOR Everywhere conference and marked Wyclef’s first-ever, complete performance of his Grammy-nominated, Double Platinum album, The Carnival. The historic performance was streamed live from the Apollo stage and served as the Apollo Theater’s fall 2020 season opener.

“Any performance on the Apollo stage is memorable for an artist, but this one stood out for me,” said Haitian American rapper, musician and actor, Wyclef Jean. “Beyond it being the Apollo’s season opener and my first full performance of The Carnival, it was a historic virtual concert that needed intricate production to make it come to life for viewers at home. I’m glad the efforts of all those involved were recognized with this nomination.”

ADCOLOR’s Emmy® nomination was given by the New York Chapter of The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NY NATAS), which fosters creativity and inspires artistic and technical excellence through the renowned Emmy® Award, the coveted peer-recognition symbol of distinction in television. Now in its 65th year, the New York Emmy® Awards continue to promote the highest standards of quality and recognize outstanding content in the changing industry. Through its NY NATAS nomination, ADCOLOR will now be considered for an Emmy® Award later in the year.

“We are honored to see our work with Wyclef and the Apollo recognized by the NY NATAS,” said Yvonne McNair, Director of Talent and Technical Production at ADCOLOR and CEO of Captivate Marketing Group. “As an organization, it was a special moment to see our name on the legendary Apollo marquee and to know our event was opening the theater after it temporarily closed due to the pandemic. With Wyclef, we opened it up in a big way, and we’re proud to have offered such a notable and historic performance.”
