Carlin Dixon
By ADCOLOR June 25, 2018 |Carlin graduated from Bowling Green State University with a degree in Media Production & Studies. Originally, Carlin’s career goals included working in social media as an influencer (#yikes). After taking a deeper dive into the industry, Carlin found the relationships between influencers and brands are crafted through the advertising agencies. After researching careers in advertising, Carlin developed an interest in advertising strategy roles, as in this role he would utilize the storytelling skills learned during his undergraduate education. Senior year of college, Carlin participated in the Marcus Graham Project, as a participant of the “ICR8 Winter Bootcamp” in Detroit. Through this experience Carlin was able to gain experience and exposure in the ad industry. This process quickly cemented his interest in an advertising strategy role.
His experience during the Marcus Graham Project allowed Carlin to see a diverse group of professionals working in the advertising. Experiences like the Marcus Graham Project, motivate Carlin to work to create diverse atmospheres within the advertising industry. While working at Marcus Thomas, Carlin has led the charge of the company’s Culture and Inclusion Initiative. This involves creating programs that promote diversity and inclusion within the agency-including sourcing diverse talent.
