Yohanny Capellan
By Criseli November 14, 2022 |Yohanny thrives at making her dreams and creative ideas a reality; this is what drove her to achieve her bachelor’s in Graphic Design at Kean University, NJ.
She’s an alumna of the 4A’s Foundation’s Multicultural Advertising Intern Program (MAIP), where she launched her career as an intern at Barkley in the Public Relations team. During this fellowship, she also collaborated with other MAIP fellows in group projects where she took on the roles of graphic designer, project manager, and strategist. By the end of the fellowship, Yohanny received the recognition of 2022 Clarence Leroy Holte MAIP Fellow of the Year, an award established to recognize a MAIP Fellow who best exemplifies the passion for advertising, leadership, poise, and compassion exhibited by the award’s namesake.
As an undergraduate, Yohanny was a leader. She served as a Resident Assistant, training her creative problem-solving, pushing DEI and social advocacy to unite and empower her residents. As a result, she won the Community Builder Award and Program of the Year Award in 2021.
She had the opportunity to intern for the Permanent Mission of the Dominican Republic to the United Nations. In that capacity, she visited the UN and could sit in general meetings and impact policies with her colleagues. Understanding the importance of giving back, she also participated in Aspire High Youth Development Program as a mentor and college guide for low-income and first-generation high school students. Both experiences taught her to grow with gratitude and become a bridge architect for her people.
