Prabal Gurung was born in Singapore and raised in Nepal. He graduated from Parsons School of Design in New York. Gurung was Design Director at Bill Blass for prior to launching his eponymous brand in 2009. Gurung’s designs have been worn by leading ladies including former First Lady Michelle Obama and the Duchess of Cambridge. Gurung received the 2010 Ecco Domani Fashion Fund Award, the 2011 CFDA Swarovski Award for Womenswear, and the 2015 Creativity Award from The Drawing Center. He was named Creative Director of Tasaki in September 2017, and published his first coffee table book in November 2019.
