Watchmen x The Atlantic: The Massacre of Black Wall Street

    By July 29, 2020 |

HBO’s award-winning series, Watchmen, was set in the background of 1921 in Tulsa with the untold history of the massacre woven into the story’s fabric. Given the state of politics and race relations in our country, it was essential to highlight and elevate the story of Black Wall Street, without irresponsibly rehashing trauma, but sharing the historical significance of Greenwood. The Atlantic, our partner, created a well researched, comic-style illustrated article depicting the violence of 1921 in Tulsa, aptly titled, “The Massacre of Black Wall Street.” Our partnership became the best performing branded content piece in The Atlantic’s history.
